IT’S ALL ABOUT CREATING UNFORGETTABLE MEMORIES,
RENEWING AND FORGING NEW BASEBALL FRIENDSHIPS.
THE CAMP THAT IS CENTERED AROUND THE “ALWAYS HAVE FUN” MANTRA.
Dear Friends of DHBA,
Over the course of twenty years, Nancy and I have helped plan and produce more than seventy-five events, first through Dave Henderson Baseball Adventures and then DHBA Baseball. These include Mariners and A’s Fantasy Camps, Hendu’s Road Trip, Stockton Ports Camps, Tacoma Rainier Camps, Everett Aquasox Camps and The Old School Baseball Tournament. In our partnership with Roy Hobbs Baseball, we added three years of The Cactus Classic Tournament in Tucson.
My favorite moments in all these events came during the Mariners and A’s camps when, at the end of a long and challenging week we would gather the staff for that fifteen minutes before the banquet. When it was just the people who had worked so hard, laughed so much, celebrated—and sometimes mourned—together, as they made the week such a success for you, the campers.
Along with first Hendu, and later Brian, and I, we wanted the chance to express our thanks for your support and friendship. Together we all have such indelible memories. Together we all watched, and participated, in bringing a gathering of strangers to become a baseball family.
Nancy and I know you are probably wondering what will happen now.
The A’s have communicated to us only that they are going ahead with plans for a 2020 camp. The Mariners are doing the same. Brian Holman, we believe, will continue to be key to the planning and production of future Mariners camps and he does so with our blessings and best wishes.
While we loved the camps, for Nancy and I, we look forward to the exciting, challenging and creative opportunities ahead in our personal partnership.
We cherish the life-long friendships we’ve made through DHBA and wish happiness and success for all of you. We raise our glass and offer a final toast to baseball and to you, our good friends.
