Cactus League Game 2, M’s at Padres

Jay Yencich · February 28, 2011 at 11:38 am · Filed Under Game Threads

This lineup looks a bit less like a Mariners starting lineup than it did yesterday. I can only assume that means that we cared an awful lot about charity, unlike those horrible Padres.

2B Jo. Wilson
SS Ryan
1B Smoak
DH Cust
RF Gross
LF Saunders
3B Tuiasosopo
C Moore
CF Halman

P Fister

Game time, again, is 12:05 pm, the radio dial tuned to 710 if you’re able to deal with that just yet.

I turned the radio on. I guess I can deal with it.

I missed most of the top of the first, had to step away.

    Hey, a run!

I’m listening, off and on, at work. Just caught Halman’s homer – Mariners lead 4-2!

How are you listening? I live in Vancouver so I don’t get 710 on the radio, but 710online (mynorthwest.com) doesn’t seem to have the game(particularly wretched ESPN host on instead). Suggestions?

So Halman hit it all the way to where you work? That’s impressive.

    yay, 6-6 tie!

    1-0-1 for the year!

I think you need to sign up with mlb.com to hear it over the internet.

On my iPod I have and app called “At Bat 11” for $15 and can listen to the game (and all the mlb games this year) with either the home or away radio feeds.

I think mlb.com also offers MLB.tv and “Game Time Audio” (or something named something like that) for different prices.

In the end, if you want to listen to the Mariners on the internet you’ll need to pay mlb.com because the regular radio feeds are turned off during the games.

    Hope that makes sense.

I’m sorry, shortly after I posted I got too busy at work to continue.

Per Oolon’s comment – I bought the mlb.com 2011 gameday audio for $19.95. It’s still KIRO’s announcers, although I could’ve listened to San Diego’s instead. You can buy the video package instead, but that adds another hundred bucks! If I want to watch I’ll just record it on my Tivo (which has the added benefit of letting me start a bit later and skip commercials).

No, I just have absurdly long arms. 😀

I thought Rizz’s “Fly Fly Away” was a nice touch.

When he first said it (I was listening in the background), it didn’t register on me.

But after the play I realized, and Rizz and Sims were talking about it.

    Then it made me sad.

But otherwise, I got through the game broadcast OK.
