You know, as a beer guy with undimmed affection for Edgar, an event like this is nigh Xanadu. I certainly wish I was back home for this one.
Somebody ask Edgar if he could come back and hit for us. 😀
Honestly, I usually am pretty dissapointed when I walk into a place and find out there’s no Mac N’ Jack’s or Sierra Nevadas, but the beer at the Elysian Fields is actually pretty frickin’ good.
If my work doesn’t clear me on wednesday for being sick, I will be there fo sho.
Elysian Fields is pretty cool. I think they don’t sell Mac N’ Jacks because that would be kinda like asking for a Big Mac at a Burger King.
This is awesome. Thanks for the heads up. I’ll gladly pay 25 bucks for an autograph. It’s not like these other schmucks who just collect the profit for themselves.
If McDonalds or Burger King sold good food.
Appreciate the heads-up. I don’t live in Seattle any more, but I e-mailed my dad about it and he’s all kinds of excited.
Thank you, Dave, for the help in promoting this. It really helps, as does word of mouth from die-hard Mariners fans like most of us who populate the comments on this blog.
This event is designed to be both kid-friendly and adult-friendly, and the best part is YOU decide how much you want to support Edgar’s Foundation. A portion of proceeds from orders from a special event menu, as well as beer and spirits sales (and a little extra if you order a drink made from El Zacatecano mezcal – “Edgar’s Friend Zac”). And $25 for an Edgar autograph, knowing 100% of that goes to such a good cause, is a great deal.
And for those of you who don’t know, it really is a good cause. Edgar & Holli are doing a great job of raising and distributing need-based diversity scholarships for students interested in teaching in under-served communities. As they put it:
I have a hard time trying to think of a reason why anybody would be opposed to what they’re doing here. And as usual, Edgar is doing it quietly…but hopefully events like this can change that and raise awareness and support for what he’s trying to do.
Finally, Elysian doesn’t carry Mac ‘n Jack’s, but they do carry other craft brews made by some of the finest craft breweries in the world (including Elysian, which is quite possibly the most award-winning Washigton craft brewer). Come down tomorrow, and give ’em a try.
