French vs Rzepczynski, 4:07 pm.
The final two weeks of the season kick off in Toronto, as the M’s head up north and try to put some runs on the board. The Blue Jays will, that’s for sure. This year’s breakout star, Jose Bautista, will likely hit his 50th home run of the year in this series. Given that French is a flyball lefty, I’d actually bet on him doing it tonight. The M’s will have to string together some hits if they want to be competitive in this series.

I don’t understand not moving Saunders up, the keeping young guys down in the order isn’t in play when Smoak is hitting cleanup
Well interest in Mariners baseball seems to have reached a low ebb today.
But how about the Rainiers? Another half-hour and they are playing the I.L. champs.

Looks like the Rainiers are playing in Toronto. Six of nine in the lineup plus the pitcher all played in Tacoma at least part of the year.
I’m sorry for doing this, but if you’re bored between innings (or watching HRs), travel over to the Times website and look at the comments in regards to Kelley’s column on Ichiro.
It seems absolutely astounding that some people could be so out of touch. I’m stunned.

Okay, I guess I’m showing my ignorance – so the rule is if no one drops it, it’s a hit? Even though that really should’ve been caught without requiring any extraordinary effort?

Lopez is NOT the guy I want up in this situation…. and as I write that, he strikes out.
Of course if Branyan is out, I’m not sure who I’d replace him with. Actually yes I am – almost anyone else on our pathetic team would still be preferable to Lopez.

The Rainiers have been getting hammered, but they have rallied back to 12-6.
FWIW, the Rainiers are playing a several guys with MLB experience in Seattle, including Feierabend (who started) and Snell, both of who – well, you see the score. OTOH, I don’t recognize a single name in the Clippers lineup.
