You gotta be fucken kidding me not Batista. We have a lead for fuck sake!

  2. mw3 on August 26th, 2009 8:59 pm

    Oh for heavens sake, no!

  3. Jeff Nye on August 26th, 2009 9:00 pm

    Well, that’s game over.

  4. juneau_fan on August 26th, 2009 9:00 pm

Having Batista come on brings some excitement back into the game.

  5. TWownsU on August 26th, 2009 9:02 pm

The Mariners white flag of surrender enters the game!

  6. Jake N. on August 26th, 2009 9:02 pm

An umpire that is a Mariners fan Yahhh!

  7. Dirk on August 26th, 2009 9:06 pm

I think this umpire may have a slightly wider and shorter strike zone than average if Gameday is to be believed.

  8. flashbeak on August 26th, 2009 9:08 pm

Oh god. I’m starting to miss Josh Wilson.

  9. juneau_fan on August 26th, 2009 9:08 pm

Dirk, by watching on Gameday, you miss all the dirty words being mouthed by the A’s hitter as he stormed away from the plate.

And you’ve just missed Wilson carefully checking his bat as he stomped back to the dugout as though a crack would make him strike out.

  10. EagleBonesFalconHawk on August 26th, 2009 9:08 pm

Jack Wilson looks overmatched at the plate EVERY TIME. doesn’t matter who is pitching

  11. Dirk on August 26th, 2009 9:10 pm

Must have been a big crack…

  12. Jake N. on August 26th, 2009 9:12 pm

Am I wrong for thinking that having two like leftys throw back to back, not the most advantageous for the M’s. Would it not be better having Snell split them?

  13. flashbeak on August 26th, 2009 9:13 pm

If Jack continues to make himself look that bad with the bat, I’m not a fan of the prospect of him manning shortstop next season, I don’t care how good his defense is.

  14. juneau_fan on August 26th, 2009 9:14 pm

Yeah, I think the crack’s so big that the pitch goes right through it.

Batista gets through another inning! Who-hoo!

  15. EagleBonesFalconHawk on August 26th, 2009 9:15 pm

OH MY GOSH did Batista really just have an efficient inning with NO WALKS. I’m freakin out maaaan!

  16. Jake N. on August 26th, 2009 9:16 pm

Give Jack a chance, he has been riding the bench with an injury. Takes time to get the timing and eye back together. Yah he looks bad ATM, but he can hit.

  17. Dirk on August 26th, 2009 9:17 pm

Juneau, I have this image of Bugs Bunny or Elmer Fudd walking up to the plate with a bat with a Giant hole in the end of it.

Then again that might describe the entire Mariners’ offense.

  18. G-Man on August 26th, 2009 9:17 pm

Who did Sims and Blowers say asked to be released?

  19. EagleBonesFalconHawk on August 26th, 2009 9:18 pm

^Brad Penny from the Boston Red Sox

  20. Liam on August 26th, 2009 9:21 pm

Sims on Langerhans walk off home runs, “Two in eighteen days… at home!?”

Yes, the walk off home runs were at home.

  21. juneau_fan on August 26th, 2009 9:21 pm

Wow, Davis has had some bad moments out there tonight.

the rats are fleeing the ship?

  23. Liam on August 26th, 2009 9:23 pm

The third base coach was giving Lopez the green light. That should have been an out.

  24. juneau_fan on August 26th, 2009 9:24 pm

Maybe the Red Sox could trade disgruntled pitchers, and get Jamie Moyer.

Is anyone looking at the third base coach tonight as they round the bag? I mean, it’s worked two out of three times, so I don’t know why I’m bitching, but it’s just weird.

  25. SonOfZavaras on August 26th, 2009 9:24 pm

That was a TERRIBLE decision to send Lopez. If that throw was at all on-line, he’s out by six feet.

  26. EagleBonesFalconHawk on August 26th, 2009 9:25 pm

I don’t understand why Wak does not pinch run for Sweeny right now… no way he scores if there was to be a base hit.

  27. SonOfZavaras on August 26th, 2009 9:26 pm

Not that I complain about runs, but that is lousy fundamental baseball. A runner should never be sent unless he’s about a 7.5 runner when the fielder’s that shallow.

  28. G-Man on August 26th, 2009 9:26 pm

With two out, you aggressively wave ’em in from third.

I have been trying to convince people on my softball team that the number of outs makes a diff, to no avail.

  29. Dirk on August 26th, 2009 9:30 pm

That was a TERRIBLE decision to send Lopez. If that throw was at all on-line, he’s out by six feet.

Perhaps they felt the risk was worth it since it’s a one run game and there were already two outs?

  30. EagleBonesFalconHawk on August 26th, 2009 9:42 pm

I was hoping Wilson would K for the GOLDEN SOMBRERO

  31. juneau_fan on August 26th, 2009 9:42 pm

Eek. AA coming in for the ‘save.’

  32. flashbeak on August 26th, 2009 9:47 pm

I was hoping Wilson would K for the GOLDEN SOMBRERO

I was hoping Jack Wilson would strike out because just maybe that means he would get the night off tomorrow night and I wouldn’t have to deal with another night of a shortstop who hits worse than a pitcher.

  33. SonOfZavaras on August 26th, 2009 9:49 pm

Man, this guy Everidge is a big ol’ side of beef, isn’t he?

  34. Hud67 on August 26th, 2009 9:49 pm

I think DA has stock in Tums…and heart medication.

  35. Jeff Nye on August 26th, 2009 9:50 pm

We’re going to really regret not selling high on Aardsma.

  36. SonOfZavaras on August 26th, 2009 9:50 pm

Aardsma, I’ve had my fill of “interesting” this year. Just lock it down, homey.

  37. Dirk on August 26th, 2009 9:54 pm

I’m convinced Aardsma is going to have one of those 12 pitch, 3 walk then 9 pitch, 3 Strikeout innings one of these days.

  38. EricL on August 26th, 2009 9:54 pm

And lock it down he did.

And yay. Another beer for me. (Every M’s win from #65 on is a beer won from my brother-in-law in a preseason bet.)

  39. SonOfZavaras on August 26th, 2009 9:57 pm

We’re going to really regret not selling high on Aardsma.

    I agree, Jeff.

Gratifying to see Garciaparra strike out against us, personally. When he was with the Red Sox, he used to just kill us.

Granted, he was killing the whole AL for awhile there, but he really seemed to get clutch on us back in his prime.

  40. Liam on August 26th, 2009 9:58 pm

What would you have had to pay if the Mariners didn’t win 65 games?

  41. msb on August 26th, 2009 9:59 pm

FSN Producer? Can we get a show of El Ben Show during the anthem, while Ichiro is still an honorary member?

  42. Liam on August 26th, 2009 10:06 pm

Bill Krueger taking shots at Moneyball and Billy Beane, “Three strait losing seasons for Oakland” “You think you’re the smartest guy in the world.”

On top of the irony, saying this while one of his points was about the cash for clunkers program that ended on Monday.

  43. EricL on August 26th, 2009 10:13 pm

What would you have had to pay if the Mariners didn’t win 65 games?

He was convinced the team would have trouble winning 1/3 of their games. (He’s the type that tends to talk first, think later – despite being in biotech.) I told him I’d give him a beer for every win under 75 the M’s finished after the season. He said one for each win over his guess.

The cutoff point was 64 (I owe him one)/65 (he owes me one).

We’ve already agreed Keystone Light is not an acceptable form of payment.

  44. littlesongs on August 26th, 2009 10:16 pm

    Bill Krueger taking shots…

    …would be YouTube gold.

    I miss Dave Valle.

  45. juneau_fan on August 26th, 2009 10:18 pm

I’m gonna kill Grandpa Keystone Light myself just to shut him up.

That’s the only problem with watching every game, all season long. I swear, I can say all the lines along with the actors by this point in the season.

And that old man screaming Nancy Boy is on my last nerve.

  46. joser on August 26th, 2009 10:25 pm

^Brad Penny from the Boston Red Sox

the rats are fleeing the ship?

Nah, he just has Silva disease: sucks too much to stay in the rotation, costs to much to outright, so he’s been sent to the bullpen. Which he’s not happy with. Between that and the ugly Billy Wagner situation (is Papelbon still tweeting shit about him now that he’s on the team?) the Fenway bullpen is not going to be a pleasant place to be. And they’re still probably going to play in the postseason (put that in your “chemistry creates wins” pipe and smoke it).

  47. Liam on August 26th, 2009 10:36 pm

Brad Penny has been a 2.1 WAR pitcher this year.

  48. skipj on August 26th, 2009 11:06 pm

How many broken bats tonight? I counted at least 5, including Branyan’s certain homer, but for the broken bat.

  49. truntle on August 27th, 2009 1:36 am

So, I just got back from the game. And my friends and I were having a little fun watching Jack Wilson while we were there. That guy is hilarious in the field. Before every inning he would draw something in the dirt in the hole between third and short. I think it was a “T”, my sister thinks it was an “F”…were not sure. Then between each pitch he would take his glove off and walk five steps forward and manicure the dirt then walk back into position. It was pretty hilarious. Watch him next time you’re there.

  50. SonOfZavaras on August 27th, 2009 11:53 am

Hell, truntle…I saw Wilson look as though he wanted to talk to his bat after he struck out.

Jack Wilson may be our new resident eccentric.
