i heard from a friend that watches American Idol that they did some ford commercial/modest mouse thing the other day and i chose not to believe it.

Does anyone else find it ironic that in the Times piece they have the picture of WFB next to this quote “There’s a certain amount of grace time that you give people who have been important to a club. But there comes a point in time when you need to step it up.”?
It begs the question: How many extensions do you give a person who has been irrelevant to a club?
Well, I’m thoroughly depressed after watching that. And Willie’s the top utility man in my heart.
What the hell was that video? Was that Newman with an afro in that thing? Is it any wonder Ford has fallen on hard times with crap like that.
re #3 Until the Bloomquist love stops. The only way that happens is if a regular goes down and he gets a whole year to display his “talents”. I know we have already seen him in some extended playing time, but the to slake the KJR Bloomie fanbase of their Willie lust is to see his suckitude for a continuous stretch. Even then we will still see Bloomie apologists saying it was a “down year” and he needs to full seasons to prove himself. Frankly to see that happen something has completely gone FUBAR, and none of us want that.

I thought HoRam would be the #4 starter. Why is he being named the 5th starter? Personally, I like it when a rotation goes righty, lefty, righty, lefty. Thought the M’s would be Felix, Wash, Bautista (or Weaver…whoever performed better), Ramirez, and then the other of Bautista and Weaver. Any particular reason why this is? Hasn’t Ramirez outperformed Weaver? Is it a durability issue?
I went to high school with Isaac Brock. The Isaac I know would never have let that happen to his song. Where have you gone, Isaac Brock?

Does anyone else have a feeling that Grover will break camp with 13 pitchers? With Putz and Rhodes, who has already made the team, I guess, nursing tender elbows, Grover might claim that he needs an eigth bullpen arm for the start of the season.
The notebooks also mentioned that one bench spot is still up in the air. If it is not claimed by the 13th pitcher, how would Reed not claim that spot as the 4th OF?

If this threatens to delve too far into discussing music instead of baseball, feel free to delete of course (not that I would have any say anyway), but while I agree the ad is horrible and a little upsetting, I’m not sure there’s a real problem here. He’s getting to make the music he wants to make, and I think he’s still writing great music. I can’t blame him for not giving a f%@# about what advertisers want to do with it. Who cares, really?
I’m not sure I would make the same choice, and I was really sad when I first saw Gravity Rides Everything in a car commercial, but I’m not sure I wouldn’t either. If it’s not impinging on his freedom to do what he wants to do, is he really losing anything? And who are we to judge anyway? Float On was a poppy, overplayed single regardless… it’s not like this is really changing the way the song is consumed in a dramatic way. He might suffer a little from some fans calling him a sellout, but I think we’ve gotten to know the man well enough over the years to know he doesn’t give a god-damn about that.
If I read one more person on Baker’s blog say Willie Ballgame should be starting over Jose or Adrian I will scream!
These people think Jose is a nothing! They have the impression Adrian sucks!! ARGH!!!!! Help guys, HELP!

A player who has a true level of talent resulting in a .250 BA with no power could, at least once, hit .300 for an entire season.
I fear that Hargrove might overvalue BA. So it would mean that Willie would get even more playing time.

Sherill was god awful last spring as well. People need to stop being worry warts.
If it matters ’round here, I’m not real worried. George has had to fight harder than most for everything in his baseball career. He’ll battle through this ‘setback’ and make it just fine.
