Who is the new Frenchy Hillenbrand?
A few years ago, I wrote:
Shea had no patience at the plate, no power, slightly below average in contact, no speed, and no fielding ability. ... Shea retired with 3816 PA. ... Anyway, so the question is on the table: who was the last player who had as limited a game as Shea, but allowed to play more than he has?
One of the by-products (objectives?) of sabermetrics is to point out such players. I haven't looked to see. Do you guys have any candidates? Remember, we are not looking for "replacement level" players, or are bad overall, so, don't give me that list. We're looking for players who bring nothing positive to the table, yet somehow manage to play regularly, year after year. And bonus points to whoever comes up with this list historically.
