Songs stuck in my head
Often enough, I get into a zone where an oldie-but-a-goodie pops up for whatever reason, and suddenly, I've got it on repeat. A while ago, I'd get Bittersweet Symphony by "Rolling Stones"? that pops into my life, and then goes away. Same with Empire State of Mind.
Black Betty pops in, then pops out. I get into looking for cover versions, and was surprised to discover Tom Jones (with a terrific video, which may not be SFW if you look for it). Seeing that I preferred his version of Kiss to Prince, I was looking forward to see what he did with it, and he did not disappoint.
Recently I had Galway Girl, which is odd, because I haven't seen the Gerard Butler movie for years, or any Butler movie including 300 which might infiltrate my subconscious. It just popped in.
Interestingly, I never get that with a Beatles song, probably because I actively listen to them all the time, and so, maybe never get into a state where I need some sort of rekindling.
Now, somehow, The Gambler has taken over. I have no idea why, I hadn't heard the song or any Kenny Rogers song for must be years. And darn it, the song is even better than I remembered. It's going to take me a while to be free of this one, and on to the next. And I'll have no idea what will trigger that one.
