Resting players
Pizza says his research suggests that resting players has a positive impact in their next game, some 3 points in OBP gained from what was expected. I think that's what he's saying, but then he says the impact is 3 points in OBP over 600 PA, which is confusing since alot of those PA come with it a natural rest day.
Pizza: if you are going to have a section called "gory math", please provide "gory math" numbers. Right now, all of that information is really just claims of results. There's no numbers for us to analyze.
Anyway, gaining 3 points of OBP over the next game is obviously too little in return for your bench player who is going to cost you 20-30 points in OBP in the current game. But if that gain continues for 5-10 games (that is gaining 3 points per game), then we're in breakeven territory. Then again, with natural off days, you get some of that gain without going to the bench.
Good idea, but lots more questions than answers.?
