Pitch sequencing
?A good starting point as well. I think the author would be better suited to simply focus on just the first two pitches, and splitting the second pitch based on whether he's in an 0-1 or 1-0 count.
And I definitely would NOT look at PA that ended in K, and figure out how much randomness led to that. It's not going to give you an answer that would be applicable to the question you have.
Hardball Times had a series of articles related to this subject. I don't remember what we said about it, so I'll link to it here, and go back and read them. This was by Josh, along with a followup. And from Craig.
