HOF 2015 post-mortem
The funny thing is... as a collective, the top 10 votegetters were pretty much the rights ones (if you forget about the order).
Certainly, among the top 14, the only one out of place is #11 Lee Smith. But otherwise, the voters, as a collective, nailed it, if you had to draw a line after #14.
That they managed to vote in 4 of the top 13 (all worthy) is a WIN. It clears the backlog wonderfully. It doesn't matter who goes in first, as long as the worthy do. And, the 4 are worthy.
But, the indignation is based on what we presume will happen, that Raines can't possibly jump from 55% to 75% in two years. That Bagwell seems like he might be stuck. That Mussina, Bonds, and Clemens seem to be stuck too.
So, it's a good win for the BBWAA today. But starting in a year or two, it won't be looking good for them. ?
