Hypocrisy
As usual, life can usually be described by a quote from The Godfather.?
Senator: I'll do business with you, but the fact is that I despise your masquerade, the dishonest way you pose yourself. Yourself and your whole f!cking family.
Michael: Senator. We're both part of the same hypocrisy...but never think it applies to my family.
Senator: Okay. Some people need play little games. You play yours. Let's just say that you'll pay me because it's in your interest to pay me.
Welcome to the world, Gary Oldman. The real problem with Gary Oldman's views was ironically captured when he talked about Jon Stewart (and comedians in general). In Stewart's case, he's got access to establishing a dialogue, to actually come to some sort of understanding, to have a dialogue, to engage people.
Oldman's views could actually have been a positive step forward if he could have structured them better, if he was willing to even admit that he was wrong in his original opinion after having a dialogue, or perhaps convince others that he is right in some aspects of his opinion.
Unfortunately, his delivery mechanism is his undoing. Anything salient he had to say is lost when Twitter gets a hold of whatever it wants to get a hold of.
He's letting others define him. And the only way out is to admit that you are part of the same hypocrisy that you are decrying having no wish to be a part of. Welcome to our world, Locutus.
