Adam Dunn or Juan Pierre
I sent Bill a post to his Hey Bill. Maybe this might be a good discussion:
(In response to Carlos Gomez being credited with some 5 more WINS than Mike Trout in 2013 in fielding) Baseball Reference has chosen to go with the BIS/Dewan assessment of fielding. I don't know how much responsibility Forman should bear to simply "contract out" the fielding portion to a third party, and absolve BIS/Dewan of explaining the results.
Better than Ben Revere is Juan Pierre as a comparison to Adam Dunn (both contemporaries, both the same number of PA, both the same WAR). Which is what makes baseball beautiful, that you can have Pierre and Dunn on the field at the same time, and not know which player will accomplish more.
But if you had 9 Pierres and 9 Dunns (offense AND defense), I'd go with Pierre, even if that means I'd have an all-LH infield.?
