Abstract:
This study demonstrates, by various geostatistical and descriptive resources, that natural resource booms causing Dutch disease can generate effects more acute in regions of a country where the natural resource (NR) boom originates; this would merit special regional development programs for these regions. However, the particularities of Peru involve dispersion of mineral and hydrocarbon resources. Adverse effects of NR booms can be seen in the tradable sectors of agriculture and manufacturing in terms of lower growth rates. However, in non-tradable sectors, there is evidence that the building sector increased overall and not always in services regional-sectors.
