I am hosting an event tomorrow at a nonprofit and have promised a free sangria bar. I have three types of sangria in mind, but in the interest of saving money, I'm wondering if I can buy fewer ingredients that I can duplicate over two or all three recipes. I'm getting overwhelmed by all the potential combinations, plus a general lack of knowledge on how different liquors will mingle with certain fruit/wine flavors. Help! [more inside]

What are some great recipes that involve taking some thing, adding an entire bottle of wine, a couple of minor ingredients (salt/pepper/herbs/vegetables for savory, sugar/spices/fruit for sweet) and then cooking it slowly for many hours? Especially recipes where it doesn't matter that the wine is probably exceptionally bad. [more inside]

For the holidays, I was given a 5L box of Franzia Cabernet Sauvignon (the guilty party has already been punished with a houseful of sick toddlers). I'm not a wine snob, but I tend to reserve my drinking for social occasions and I've yet to find the right moment to drag out this behemoth. What do I do with this wine? [more inside]
