Mocktails That Are Mostly Mock?
I've been cutting back on my alcohol consumption in January and want to continue it. However, I'm hosting a party this weekend where there will be my big weakness - wine. Help me find some mocktails that still have a bit of alcohol so I don't have full FOMO and down some chardonnay. [more inside]

Affordable wines for anniversary party
My parents are celebrating their 50th anniversary at a place where we bring our own alcohol. There will be a bartender on the premises to open and pour. My family doesn't drink all that much, and when we do, it's beer. I'm looking for affordable red and white wines for 50-60 people. [more inside]

Overly sweet medicine wine
My beloved friend showed up last night with a bottle of shitty homemade wine. Oh wow, this stuff tastes like medicine. I've successfully brewed champagne cider jack with him in the past, he's not dangerous so much as clueless at times, but this shit is like berry flavored ass medicine. Any vintners out there who can tell me if there is any way to go beside dumping the lot into the sink? [more inside]
Best pro-tips for managing a five day drink-a-thon
I'm home for the holidays and seeing many friends after years apart. I have five days, each consisting of brunch, lunch and dinner with others, and am looking forward to unimaginable quantities of free alcohol. I am a seasoned (pickled?) drinker that does not normally get hangovers but never have I been on such a social whirlwind with so many opportunities to celebrate. Does anyone have advice for overcoming the potential weaknesses of the flesh to rise to this challenge? Or, how to pace myself when offered so much free deliciousness? Details below [more inside]
Why no alcohol content info on the wine label?
I thought that, by law, all wine bottles in the US must show their % alcohol content. But recently in California I've bought wine which doesn't display the alcohol content on either the front or back label. Am I just not looking close enough?

If I make wine ice cubes will they still be alcoholic?

How can I reverse the affects of alcohol on my blood vessels?
For the past two weeks I've been consuming large amounts of alcohol (mostly beer and wine, but also soju). After I first started drinking, I noticed a bump in a blood vessel in my right forearm. These bumps have now appeared along the rest of my forearm (that same vein). They feel like bruises. I'm pretty sure something is getting clogged up in there. I can stop drinking, but what can I do to get my blood flowing normally again? [more inside]

Brooklyn Wholesae Beer and Wine Distributor for Wedding?
I am getting married in two weeks in the Prospect Park Picnic House in Brooklyn. My fiancee and I are providing the alcohol (two types of beer, a red wine and a white wine and a glass of champagne for a champagne toast). Something more special than, but similar to, Riccadonna
More expensive alternatives to Riccadonna? I looove the sweetness of Riccadonna but want something a bit less cheap and tacky. So something around the 30-50$ mark (Australian dollar) would be super.
I hate dry and tart sparkling wines, but I have also tried some sweet sparkling wines that are too sweet and heavy almost -- like a mudcake that's too rich and sickly. Riccadonna seems light and sweet and fruity as opposed to cloying. Note: I know almost nothing about wines and champagnes, so feel free to teach me things. :)

The effect of moderate drinking on mood and results during weight loss?
What has been your own personal experience with strictly moderate alcohol consumption (1-2 drinks/night) when engaged in any kind of weight loss regimen you've done? Did it have any noticeable effect on your mood, outlook, and progress? Better yet, what changes did you notice cutting out drinking or adding it back in? (please no crusading or mere speculation, thanks)

What is ja ja (wine)?
At a French bar years ago, the French owner was telling me about their "ja ja" wine. He said it was the term for a house wine, often when they'd pour the leftovers from a few bottles into one. It's cheap and usually just fine but not fabulous.
I don't see the term often (and it tends to mean something different every time), but I saw it again at a French bar recently. The bartender told me it was a house wine with no set vintage (though they did offer a region). She poured it out of one bottle (thought they may have used a funnel). It was pretty darn good.
Can anyone tell me the origin of the word, and what it generally means when you see it on a wine list? Is it lots of leftover wines poured together, or only from one region, or something altogether different? It's not listed on wikipedia, my first reference, and with such a short word, Google searches don't help.
I just want to know what I'm drinking. Thanks!
Who decided how much wine I should drink?
Why are wine bottles 750ml in size? My lady and I find that we usually don't want to drink that much when we order wine with dinner, but ordering wine by the glass isn't always an available option. 500ml would be more suitable, I would have thought.

Versatile alcohol for cooking
Yes, I know each recipe is best with a specific type of alcohol, preferably from the region that the cuisine originates from. 1,000,000 year old single malt
I wanted to buy (at some point) a really, really expensive bottle of liquor or wine (no Champagne). The idea was to hold on to it for a very long time until one day something so important happens in my life that I deem it worthy to drink the alcohol in celebration. Any suggestions on what to get?

Can I drink wine if I make it myself?
What are the liquor laws in New York State? I tried looking on the NYS common law page, but I couldn't understand them. I am 20 years old, and therefore cannot purchase alcohol. If I were to make my own wine using this method, would it be legal? Does the Law cover production and consumption of liquor, or does the "drinking age" just cover the sale of alcohol? I know that it is legal to make small quantities of alcohol for your own personal use, but I don't know about the age thing.
