I will be hosting 14 kids under 12 years old for pumpkin carving next week. There will be about 6 adults as well. What can you recommend for an outdoor snack to serve? This will be a late afternoon gathering and I don't want them all getting hangry. [more inside]

Even places like Trader Joe's and Costco, it seems like all the "snacks" are terrible for you. I want my kids to eat healthy snacks at school but I want them to like them and for them to not take forever to make. No nuts allowed at their school. Any suggestions? Can be easy to make or store bought

We don't eat a lot of packaged/prepared foods but I'm about to have to juggle ALL the things and it's time for my 9 year old to start making her own meals sometimes. We have a few things she can make and she's used the microwave a bit and the toaster oven but I'd love to know what you keep on hand to get the kids to "help themselves." We are going to have a small pod of kids here somewhat regularly and I want to be able to let them do it themselves as much as possible. [more inside]

In road trips past, I've found that the surest way to keep the kids happy for a while is to give them a snack that takes a while to get through - e.g., honey sticks and lollipops (used sparingly). Any other ideas along these lines?
