How can I limit the chances of a writing partner ripping me off?

I'm talking with a couple of potential writing partners for screenplays/scripts. This has some good general information on best practices, but I've always been concerned with one possibility - what if the partner screws me over in some way? Specifically, is there anything (aside from finding someone who seems trustworthy) I can do to limit the possibility of the partner removing my name from a script we worked on together and submitting it as his own?

script tease

What script is this painted text written in? This feels like an embarrassing sentence to write, but I suspect it's either a Brahmic script or something from Tolkien. (Bonus question: What does it say?)

Is it protocol to turn treatment to tv script for free to get the job?

I met a guy who is producing a tv show - he has raised half the money to shoot the pilot and seems to be legitimate. I told him I was a writer and he expressed interest in having me on board as one of the writers for the show. He then asked me if I could turn his treatment (the overall idea of the first episode) into a proper script format. He did not offer to pay for this and it seemed like it was a way of auditioning / interviewing me. More details and my question inside.. [more inside]

Wrote TV Spec Script, Now What?

So, I finished the first draft of a TV spec script this week. I checked to see if the show even looks at spec scripts (it does) and I got a bunch of scripts off the show to study the style and length, etc. Now what?* The only writing gigs I've gotten before have either been people coming to me, self-publishing, or people with their own agents bringing me in as part of a package deal. My only experience with the slush pile is cartoon selling (and I've done well there in so far as you can). I don't have representation of my own. After the writing part of writing is done, how does the selling part go - at least for US TV? [more inside]

Rom coms where the love interest is introduced later?

The standard format for a romantic comedy has both key characters introduced very early in the script/movie -- say, in the first ten pages/minutes. I'm looking for examples of romantic comedies where one of the romantic leads is introduced later in the movie. [more inside]

Screenwriting for fun and not profit.
