What's good at the drive-thru?

So let's say you have to drive across parts of Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana. Due to a curse, you can only get your lunch and dinner at places with drive-thru windows, so either fast food or hybrid "fast casual" like Panera and Fazioli's. What are the best orders you'd make at which restaurants? [more inside]

What is the best food in in the WORLD in Brooklyn?

I'm not saying what's something that #27 on a world pizza list. Or really good coffee. I mean what's a food in a specific niche, that's generally, if not universally acknowledged to be the best there is on the planet AND it's in the borough of Brooklyn? Restaurant OR grocery OR food manufacturer.

Where in Stockholm should I eat Kalix löjrom?

While in Stockholm I'd like to try Kalix löjrom (vendace roe from Bothnian Bay), since it seems like the ideal time of year for it. I'd prefer this to be at a restaurant. I could buy a small jar or tin, but wouldn't have the means to prepare it properly at a hotel and it sounds like it needs to be kept frozen if I want to bring it back home (not going to be possible). So far all I've heard is that it's served at 'nicer restaurants'. Does anyone have specific recommendations?

Why are some cuisines more popular than others?

I'm researching different cities, mostly in Europe and North America, and when looking at international restaurants (relative to the country I'm looking at), I find the same cuisines show up all the time, no matter the city. Chinese, Italian, Japanese, Vietnamese, even frequently Brazilian, seem ubiquitous. A lot more inside (including more about food representation in cities than you thought you wanted to know). Best route to take in Iceland?

I'm traveling to Iceland in August. I have 10 days and definitely want to see as much as possible. There is so much info out there about best routes to take but it seems like Ring Road, Highlands and Golden Circle are the most mentioned. Any recommendations on where to eat/drink (in and outside Reykjavik)? Was considering forgoing Ring Road to spend a few extra days in Reykjavik (to explore, meet people and experience the culture). Is 2-3 days enough in the capital? [more inside]

Weekends in New York a full English isn't too hard to find, but are there any places that will do a fry up on a weekday -- specifically Friday? By full English I mean full English, with black pudding and sausage as a breakwater. Bonus points for a full Scottish with haggis.

Kid Friendly Mid/Upscale Dining in NYC

Myself, my wife and our nine year old son will be visiting NYC in August for a few days. It will be our wedding anniversary while we're out there, and we're hoping to find a mid/upscale restaurant to enjoy. My wife and I usually would splurge on a multi-course meal someplace really nice, and while our son is pretty adventurous when it comes to food (most recently he enjoyed stealing some sweetbreads off my plate), you know, he's still a kid. Miami -> Chicago Road Trip Food Recommendations?

About to drive Miami -> Atlanta -> Nashville -> Chicago, please save me from boring road trip food! I eat everything and am looking for recommendations ranging from unique local holes-in-the-wall to decent chains that are regional to the areas I'm passing through (if I was asking about the West coast, I'm thinking things like In-n-Out or Burgerville).

Where to eat in SW/SE Portland

I go to Portland a lot but will be visiting a neighborhood I'm less familiar with. Mostly in Sellwood-Moreland, staying in Burlingame. Visiting alone so want to keep it simple, like homey breakfast places or inexpensive sit-down international eats. Where should I go? EIther hole-in-the-wall or hipsterish is fine.

Eating in Europe - celiac filter

I'm going to be traveling through a few Western European cities this summer, need to eat while doing so, and have celiac disease. I'm quite sensitive and a little cross-contamination will ensure that all I see of Amsterdam is a hotel toilet. I'd like to eat at restaurants and also eat pre-purchased food (cheese, crackers, fruit, salami, etc.) in parks and on trains between cities. I'm looking for your celiac-safe restaurant and grocery recommendations. [more inside]

Good restaurant for an out-of-towner near Union Square in SF?

My friend- a lawyer from DC- is coming into SF for a work trip and we're trying to get together for dinner and a drink at around 8 on Monday evening. I'd like to take her somewhere special that shows off SF dining a bit but that is not too pricey, and after a long day she wants it to be walking distance from her hotel in Union Square. Many of the restaurants recommended in previous Asks are really expensive (Fleur De Lys, Masa's) or closed (Ponzu, Lulu). Any local favorites that you would recommend? Thank you!

Waiter, there's a fly in my soup!

The other night, I went to a restaurant and ordered a dish that was served inedibly salty. Well, when I say "inedibly," I speak figuratively, because we ate it. We didn't enjoy it, but we ate it. Which raised the question: when is it acceptable to send something back as a restaurant and ask for a replacement not because it's actually defective, but because it's just plain bad? [more inside]
