What does getting a Master's Degree look like?

I'm finishing up my Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology this summer. YAY! It only took me 30 years. I'm throwing around the idea of continuing to get my Master's degree, but I don't even know what that looks like. Is it just taking more classes? Is it project-based? I guess each program varies, but in general, what does a Master's degree entail?

Studying creative writing in a non English-speaking country

It sounds stupid and counter-intuitive but I'm wondering—for a friend—whether there might just be high-quality courses in writing (in English!) in non-English speaking countries in South America or Europe (France or Spain for example).

Can I get into an OK grad school?

I've always wanted to get a Master's or PHD degree in Education or the humanities. But I'm worried that my poor academic record will stop me - after a decade long undergraduate career that included plenty of failed classes, I came out with a 2.5 GPA. More details after the jump. [more inside]

Should I delay FAFSA submission?

I'm applying for a second Masters' degree starting in the 2019-20 school year. I am married with one kid. Our income in 2017 was much higher than our income will be in 2018 (and 2019 and beyond). Would it be beneficial to wait to submit my FAFSA until after we file our 2018 taxes at the start of the year? Or should I just do it as soon as possible?

MPP/MPA program concentrations, plus a question on program 'prestige'

A question for those who have this degree or those who hire them (or are in any position to shed some light): how important is your chosen concentration (i.e., Environmental Policy, Global Policy, Economic Development, etc.) when it comes to job hunting? The programs I'm looking at have a variety of concentrations available, and I'm curious how important they really are when it comes to the skills you develop and who will hire you when you graduate. Suggestions for graduate studies in technology and society area

I am looking for cross-disciplinary graduate/phd course in web technology. More specifically, relating to societal use of web from a global perspective. My goal is to become an expert in use of web based technologies in developing countries (which involves computer use, censorship, etc.). So far, what I have found is STS (science, technology and society) which sounds perfect, but from what I have seen, tend to be more in the areas of applied sciences and engineering. Then there is basic CS programs which tend to be more technology than societal aspects. Does anyone have any thoughts, ideas, recommendations? [more inside]
