how to organize my inspiration/ideas digitally

i want a way to collect and search through all the artworks and other sources of inspiration i find but i can't seem to find anything that matches all my wants. preferably i'd like to find a website that already has everything i want because i'm lazy. although i wouldn't mind throwing something together myself and it would probably be better in the long term if i held all the files as opposed to relying on some other website. There are knowns, known unknowns, and unknown unknowns

I want to build a website that displays information based on multiple layers of user input (so it needs a database). I'll have a (future) designer do a pretty front end, but I want to get the back end structure right from the beginning. I don't know what I need to know to build this. I do know SQL, HTML, CSS and a smattering of Python and javascript. I need to know more. [more inside]

You speak like a green girl / unsifted in such perilous circumstances.

I would like to create a database, using MS SQL, MySQL or SQLite. I would also really like to create some sort of user interface on top of the database so people can enter information in forms and be able to view reports where the information is sorted and filtered in various ways to make the important stuff a little more easily readable. What should I bid to implement a fairly simple Python scheduling system?

Tomorrow morning I'm meeting with someone to talk about implementing a local scheduling/database application. Most everything I know about the project suggests it's something I could do in my sleep. Thing is, I desperately need the money, I don't know how much to "bid," and I have a long history of undervaluing my work. How much should I ask for? [more inside]

Database application freelancer seeking programming language advice

I'm planning on starting a database freelancing business. I understand a lot of people prefer Microsoft Access or FileMaker. With the current evolving trend of applications going on the web and add to that my somewhat good experience with PHP, HTML, Javascript and CSS I'm seeking a cross platform efficient application environment. This is why I believe Access and FileMaker are not an option, I'm also more experienced with high level languages than I am with Access or FileMaker. [more inside]

Can FileMaker have hooks into MySQL?

I have a MySQL database that contains two fields - name and e-mail - for a bunch of records. Separately I have a FileMaker 7 database that contains the same fields - name and e-mail - and contains other fields, like "notes". My question: can the FileMaker database, after polling the MySQL database, show name and e-mail as read-only; and then show the other fields as editable? i.e. if I make a change to the MySQL database, can I get it to show up in FM?
