Yesterday, everything was fine ...

I've used Duck Duck Go and Firefox for months ... years, with no problem. But two days ago, I updated Firefox. Since then, it won't take me anywhere. It just gives me a blank screen whenever I click any of my bookmarks or type them directly. [more inside]

(Free?) password management across platforms (iOS, Ubuntu) and browsers

I use an iphone and a laptop that runs Ubuntu and have Firefox and Chrome/Chromium on both, as well as Safari on the iphone. The password syncing between these has been terrible for the past many months--I think Chromium stopped being able to sync with Chrome? and Firefox never seems to autofill on my iphone or sync well. Plz send (free) solutions/suggestions.

Not chrome and not Firefox: best browser for Android?

Can't use Chrome because Google. The latest big Firefox update is unintuitive and clunky. What's the best Android phone alternative that isn't going to give all my information away, track me, and has ad-blocking abilities? I tried the DDG browser but do I need a separate ad-blocker?

How can I get the functionality of Twitter's Legacy Version?

Twitter has announced it is shutting down its "Legacy Version" on June 1, 2020. I use the legacy version to get the functionality of Legacy Twitter that allows you to have a window open with a Twitter page up, and when a new Tweet happens, a "(1)" shows in the browser tab. How can I get that functionality? The solution needs to work in Chrome & Firefox, and whether I have a twitter account or not. I want to be able to open 3 or 4 or however many tabs with twitter accounts I'm waiting for an update from, and see a notification in the tab header that there's a new tweet.

Can you help me update my Chrome search engine for Google Translate?

I had this Chrome search engine from years and years ago. It worked great until something changed a while back (possibly the Google Translate URL parameters), and now no dice. I've been getting by just updating the 3 arguments in a bookmark for the search URL, but can you help me update my search engine instead? [more inside]

No Default Browser Please!

I use both Firefox and Chrome on my windows 10 machine, usually only having one open at a time. Each instance has way too many tabs. When I click a link from an email or some other source, my default browser opens. If the default browser isn't the one that I happen to have open at the time, then there's an explosion of new tabs and a spike in memory usage as the other one tries to start. [more inside]

Backing Up Chrome and Firefox Settings

I am going to rebuild my computer (laptop). I am currently using two browsers on it - Firefox and Chrome. I know how to copy and save my bookmarks on both, but I have a lot of applications and add ons, etc, on each browser that I set up (ad blockers, etc) that I would like to have on my rebuilt machine. Is there a way that I can find out the applications and add ons for each and keep the same settings? Is this possible? Thanks,

Is there a way to hide a specific emoticon in a web forum?

I read a forum that uses emoticons a lot, and there is a specific one I'd like to hide. I don't mind the rest, so a solution that excludes/disables that single file would be preferred. However if there are only ways to hide them all, I'm open to that, too. I'd prefer solutions compatible with Chrome and OSX 10.9.2, but I use other browsers and operating systems as well, so all suggestions are helpful. [more inside]

Opening files in an application, like Firefox, only not Firefox

I am on a mac, and reluctantly use Firefox right now for some of my work. Firefox on the mac has become so slow and boggy, it is painful to work on. However, I download a lot of jpegs from webpages, and in Firefox, you can have the file automatically open with one click in Photoshop (or any other software), without having to download, go to the finder, and so forth. Is that feature available in either Chrome or Safari? I have done some googling, but can't seem to find anything.

Google Web Fonts are rendering horribly on my Firefox/Chrome browsers?

I apparently have bad or damaged Google Web Fonts installed on a Windows 7 machine. Fun fact, they are not in the Windows Fonts directory. Text is coming up gnarly, super aliased, big and chunky in both FireFox and Chrome as they appear to be loading a local cache of the font(s) as opposed to hitting Google for them. Where are they? Why do the rollovers on the website I have made do what I want them to in Chrome but not in Firefox or Internet Explorer?

However, in Firefox there are thick horizontal white lines across the image and in Internet Explorer the rollovers don't display properly at all!
