I'm aiming to set up a 4-5 day vacation over Labor Day to check out the Grand Canyon as well as Antelope Canyon for that wild sandstone natural architecture. Caveat - I've never been anywhere near those places before, and know zilch about canyon hiking in the region or what else there is to do out there. Suggestions? [more inside]

We're going to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. There are three routes, all pretty similar in mileage. While I would like to make good time, scenery and road trip pit stops are high on my list. I've gone through the country before, so I know there are long stretches without any service. Wondering if anyone had something to recommend on any of these routes.

Grand Canyon is on TV right now. It's one of those perennial reruns I enjoy enough to try to watch, but not enough to stick with it -- I always end up flippin' channels when a commercial comes on. So as a result, over the years, I've caught bits and pieces of it but never seen it from beginning to end. One story arc confuses me: did Mack (Kevin Kline) sleep with his yummy secretary? Did it happen on screen or was it just alluded to? What is the chronology of events between Mack and said delectable secretary?
