Punk rock equestrian safari clothing in NYC
I'll be in NYC for a quick trip this weekend, and would like to do a little clothing/accessories shopping while I'm there. Pertinent facts: [more inside]
Women's Biking Commuting Clothing NYC
Hi - I'm commuting by bike (or hope I will continue to be) as the weather gets colder. I commute in to work on the subway and will (citi-)bike home for approx 45 minutes. So...I need clothing that will keep me warm, but also is either work friendly, or can be carried in a bag to work. [more inside]
One afternoon in Brooklyn - what's the latest and greatest?
I'll be in NYC (specifically, Williamsburg) the afternoon of Monday October 28th w/ nothing in particular to do. What's the most not-to-be-missed thing happening right now that I could conceivably do during this time? I'll be arriving around lunch time, and will need to be back at National Sawdust in Williamsburg by around 7 or so. [more inside]
Help dress me for a conference - broken bone edition
I'm in New York to attend/speak at a conference, but I broke part of my arm/shoulder the other day, and need to change my planned outfits. I'm wearing something vaguely like this (but grey) to stabilize my shoulder.
Can you help me find women's clothing available in store in NYC or available for delivery by Tuesday which is business casual-ish, and can be put on using only one arm and very little assistance? [more inside]
One Person's Trash is Another's Yadda Yadda
I was taking a walk and found that somebody had left four bags of women's clothing on the curb labeled "FREE CLOTHES" alongside a futon also presumably free. The road is kind of off to the side, and doesn't get that much foot traffic by nyc standards. I want to report this find in a way, to make it more likely that it will go to somebody who could make use of it. Is this a good idea? If it is, what would be a good way to do so? Have considered craigslist, FB neighborhood post, freecycle forum(?). [more inside]
Help me mix & match my new clothes!
I just purchased a bunch of new clothing at Theory, which is definitely a much hipper store than I'm used to shopping at. (My old standby was Banana Republic.) The sales staff was very helpful, and I'm very pleased with what I came home with, but I'd love some help in mixing and matching everything. Photos of (almost) all of the items I bought can be found here. [more inside]

Best NYC clothes stores for larger guys? Goal: step up from jeans & tees
Which clothing stores in NYC have good casual/business casual clothes for larger men? My boyfriend and I are going clothes shopping this coming Saturday to prepare for an upcoming trip. He has a suit, but other than that, all his clothes are jeans and tees. For this trip, we are looking for: casual button down shirts (oxfords or plaids), non-jeans/non-khaki trousers, a sport coat or blazer, and some shoes that fall in between the New Balance sneakers he usually wears and the nice black shoes he wears with his suit. Sizes and price range below the cut. [more inside]
On my way to New York City this weekend - packing advice for COLD?
Coming from London UK. Need to travel light - what must I bring to wear to deal with the cold and snow? I am familiar with winter - but what will I regret not taking if the current weather situation continues across next week?
Make Me Fancy.
For a bunch of reasons (some good, some bad) I have the next two and half months totally free. I don't have to do a thing, I have no reason to make any more money and I've got oceans of time, a nest egg of savings, and a gym membership. Previous times like this I've focused on making my skill-set or apartment better/fancier, but now I want to focus on myself. No creative projects, no learning and growing, just pure, unabashed vanity. What can I do in two and half months to get all kinds of pretty? Ideally during the day. [more inside]
Why are clothing donation boxes proliferating in my neighborhood?
I live in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, and have noticed that, over the past several months, a sizable number of clothing donation boxes have appeared on sidewalks and in little disused nooks of urban space. There are three on my block alone that have sprung up, seemingly overnight, within the last couple months. What's going on? [more inside]
Men's Tailor on the UWS of Manhattan.
Need recommendation for a tailor on or near the UWS of Manhattan, NYC . Standard stuff, mostly altering off the rack shirts, pants, and jackets, nothing too extreme but should be familiar with vintage and custom-mades. Would prefer quality over speed or cost.
Maybe Chinatown's my best bet.

Help improving my wardrobe
Recommend me someone who can tell me What Not To Wear in NYC. [more inside]
I don't want to look too much like The Mom, you know?
Let's assume you are a 50-ish Lady who's wardrobe has diminished lately. What you you wear to a nice summer outdoor wedding when you don't own a lot of formal stuff and want to sharpen up your wardrobe from office-drab anyway? Where can you find these things? What places should you look? Whom should you listen to for advice? In short, what do stylish Over-50 Ladies wear to their various traditional and non family events on a budget? Ideally in New York?

Recommend casual button-down shirts for sale in NYC
Please recommend good quality button-down shirts for sale in NYC for a slender guy - I'm looking for something casual that can be worn tie-less and untucked if I'm in the mood, but still well made with good fabric and cut, i.e. at the level of Thomas Pink or w/e but casual.
Priced up to around let's say $200 a shirt, although if it's less that's even better. Thanks!
Help me be a warm, fashionable vegan in NYC.
I need help getting dressed - but it's a little more complicated than that. If you're a vegetarian/vegan in NYC, especially with one with fashion sense, please read on. [more inside]
Find me a great suit jacket, quick!
I'm tall (6'4"), I'm skinny (195lbs), and I need a black suit jacket before the end of the day today (I have the pants, but I'll buy new ones if need be). Obviously the time constraint eliminates any kind of custom garment. Basically, I need to know what stores I should be looking at in New York City -- I like a closer, more European fit, and I don't want to break the bank. First stop is H&M, but I'm not optimistic about what I'll find there. Other suggestions?

Any NYC clothing/shoe stores selling stuff made without animal materials?
I'd love to find casual men's clothing and/or shoe stores in NYC that feature products made without any animal materials (leather, etc.). I'm willing to pay for quality, but would be completely lost and out of my league in a chi-chi boutique. Any suggestions?
